We have been increasingly hearing about #biodiversity and #Biophilic Design lately. But do you really know its real impact on wellbeing of People and on the planet? I thought i knew a bit about it, but i really enjoyed and learned so much with the complete and captivating presentation provided by Oliver Heath at the #Wellference2024 Madrid this month. Thank you, Oliver, for the really interesting content on Biophilic Design, allowing us all at the audience to enthousiastically understand the 'why' and the 'how' (It is not just about adding plants...! 😉 ), supported by figures that bring a science based look on the Biophilia Theme. Really nice presentation illustrating how sustainable architecture and interior design can improve healthand well being in the built environment, through more productive, happier and healthierspaces to live and work in, by improving the human connections to nature.I hope our teams can join forces in future Projects to generate even more healthier and #Renegerative Human-Centred #Buildings approaches! And thanks ITG Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia for the really interesting conference day, superbly organized! 🌿A serene haven nestled in the heart of lush palm tree forests, where tranquility meets sustainability.🌴I’ve created this interior design and architecture concept project for an eco-friendly retreat and wellbeing center that’s more than just a hotel - it’s an oasis for rejuvenation and sustainability enthusiasts.🌍🌲The eco-friendly initiatives:• Sustainable architecture powered by renewable energy.• A commitment to reducing the carbon footprint through responsible sourcing.• Waste reduction and recycling programs to minimize environmental impact. But what truly sets this place apart is the dedication to the ancient practice of “forest bathing” 🌳. Nature therapy is at the core of the offerings, providing guests with an opportunity to reconnect with nature’s healing powers.🌿Whether it’s the restorative aura of the palm tree groves, eco-conscious accommodations based on biophilic design, or the diverse range of wellness therapies, the retreat is designed to nourish your mind, body, and soul.😌🙏🏻This exercise was part of a LinkedIn challenge by Sandu Baciu 👨🚀 and Ar. June Chow called the #GreenChallenge, where like-minded and talented AI enthusiasts converge to explore sustainable design ideas. This is my contribution to the challenge with these design concepts created with GenAI (Midjourney) 🌎💚Stay tuned for more of these regular design challenges, and let me know your thoughts on this particular concept in the comments below🌟#HotelDesign #WellnessInteriors #Wellbeing #BiophilicDesign #EcoDesign #Sustainability #InteriorDesign

Nature is an essential part of our daily lives. It underpins our economy, our society, and our existence, providing us with food to eat and air to breathe. Nature is so important that the world’s natural capital is valued at $125 trillion. For many years, designers and developers have incorporated nature into architecture for various reasons. Biophilic design and sustainable design are two well-known design principles that revolve around nature, and yet both have vastly different purposes. Whilst one is dedicated to minimising the impacts on the natural world, the other is committed to maximising the health and happiness of the population.Although sitting at opposite ends of the spectrum, recent studies have identified the importance of biophilic design in shaping a sustainable future. Sustainability of Biophilic DesignGood biophilic design celebrates our love of life to create spaces that inspire, empower, and energise the people who use them. There is a difference in approach between environmentally sustainable design and biophilic design. Sustainable design goals are driven by a quantitative emphasis on using technology to keep below certain energy consumption levels. While biophilic design employs a more human-centric approach with qualitative solutions that benefit the environment and the users in the long run. Since it is based on improving human connectedness to nature, it bridges the void from nature in both the environment and the building occupants.Sustainable design is a passive connotation to ‘reduce’ our impact on the environment. While biophilic design has a more ‘productive’ approach, aiming to improve overall human performance. Hence, biophilic and sustainable design must go hand in hand, as both works towards better human-nature connectedness. Integrating both into overly mechanized city landscapes is the way to enhance the human lifestyle and conserve the precious environment.#biophilicspaces #loveoflife #empoweringdesign #energizingspaces #humancentric #natureinspired #sustainableliving #greendesign #wellnessspaces #naturalharmonyhttps://lnkd.in/gumhPSbF

We all hear talk tracks around biophilia, Gensler does a wonderful job in breaking down the benefits. Recent findings around the research into the benefits of biophilic design include:A Human Spaces research report showed that biophilic design can improve productivity by 6% and creativity by up to 15%.Vegetated spaces can improve an individual’s self-esteem and mood, while the presence of water can have a relaxing effect. Evidence shows that these benefits can occur in as little as 5 to 20 minutes.🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿#biophilicdesign #workplacedesign #wellbeingatwork #biophilia

All our actions impact the environment. How we use the tap water when we shave, how we switch on lights on a cloudy - yet bright enough - day, how we refuse to change plastics over new alternatives, how we still love to print to read instead of read on screen, how we prefer brand elements to impress rather save, how we use more kitchen paper than we need... little silly things can make a difference and since being different is all we struggle for... take action now. Drop the habits, be mindful.Think twice!#sustainability #sustainablebusiness #asteriasgdg #designagency

Workspaces and learning spaces benefit from biophilic design principles - such as use of plants, natural materials and lines of sight to a natural setting. Studies show this will improve a sense of wellness and increase outcomes. Plus if it makes us feel better - why not!..#schooldesign #learningenvironment #educationarchitecture
