Here at Edinburgh College of Art, you’ll join one of the most respected programmes for Landscape Architecture in the UK, as well as being highly renowned across Europe and beyond as a leading international school for landscape architecture research and teaching.
Landscape architects play an essential role in building sustainable futures, working creatively across a diverse range of environments and scales that require strategic planning and design. Many of society’s greatest challenges are embedded in landscapes, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, social justice and environmental degradation.
To engage these challenges you'll develop an understanding of materials, technology, cultural and ecological processes, enabling you to design sustainable environments with identity. Teaching is supported by broad range of highly experienced staff, alongside expert input from the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens.
Our Landscape Architecture MA programme has full accreditation from the Landscape Institute, and as a landscape architect you’ll join a chartered profession regulated by the Landscape Institute. And you’ll have the unique opportunity to take part in the European Masters in Landscape Architecture (EMiLA).

MA Landscape Architecture is a four-year honours programme that is accredited by the Landscape Institute, meaning the skills and knowledge you will acquire during your studies are aligned with the requirements of the chartered body for the landscape profession in the UK. This accreditation is recognised internationally, allowing many of our students to work in the UK, Europe or further abroad. Many students find employment in exciting design offices directly from graduating.
Our programme offers a period of work placement that allows students to experience professional life, form connections with professional practices, while testing potential career paths. You will have the opportunity to take up work placements worldwide.
